Faux Fur Pile Direction and Shedding Review

MATERIAL & PROCESS CONTROL · CONTROL POINTS FOR FAUX-FUR AND BONDED OUTERWEAR

Faux-fur garments need more than a color choice. Pile direction, density, backing, shedding, cutting, seam release and garment weight influence both appearance and production stability.

Confirm material direction and lot

The approved swatch should identify face, backing, pile direction, color and hand feel. Direction affects panel appearance and material consumption.

Control cutting and seam release

The backing is cut without unnecessarily cutting the pile. After sewing, trapped fibers are released from visible seams and the trim edge is checked for continuity.

Separate characteristic from defect

Normal loose fibers during handling and unacceptable shedding are not the same. The acceptable material behavior, care method and sample standard should be agreed before bulk.

Buyer checklist

  • Confirm swatch and color lot.
  • Approve pile direction and panel plan.
  • Review zipper, lining and reinforcement.
  • Check weight, shedding and care label.

Frequently asked question

Why can MOQ be higher for complex faux-fur styles?

Material minimums, directional cutting, bulky construction and special trims can increase setup and risk. Heavy-work styles may start at 80 pieces.
